Commenting on blogs is a well known and well used method of promoting a website or blog, but many website owners and bloggers approach it wrongly and fail to get the true benefit that it can offer.

Banal comments like 'nice post' and 'thanks for the info' do nothing for the subject and the discussion and actually just increase the chances that the webmaster will delete the comment as spam. Blog readers are usually on the look-out for spam comments and will check the list of comments for interesting points or alternative views while ignoring the one-liners.
